but we got spun out and had to go to the back.  We could only get back into the top 10.”

The next night at Mobile, the result was better as Long qualified and finished in the top five. The heat was a factor both days and Long was glad that she had been taking some extra steps to stay fit.

“I have been working out at the gym and that really helped with our stamina for tonight,” said Long.  “It was really hot out there tonight and I am glad we have been working out to stay in shape. A few guys had problems and fell back and we got up to fourth and that were we finished.”

With the results, Long sits third in the overall two-track Gulf Coast Championship Series.

“We are just going out there to wins races and get the best finishes we can. Points are great, but we don’t want to look at that too early.”

Johanna Long went into the weekend’s Blizzard Series and Miller Lite Series races looking for back-to-back victories - it would have been a nice birthday present for her as she had just recently turned 17.  Long had solid qualifying runs both nights, but the finishes were not up to par.  At Five Flags Speedway she finished eighth, and then rebounded to fourth the next night at Mobile.

“We missed the setup a little bit at Pensacola,” said Long.  “We came back with the same set up as when we went to victory lane there last month.  We finished seventh or so,
